Good Morning Permies!
I am looking for your thoughts on utilizing spent potting soil. I have a LOT of house plants and I start plants in the winter months for spring planting. I produce my own potting mix (Coir/Leaf Mould based) and my fiancé will purchase specialty mixes for plants with unique requirements (Carnivores, Succulents, Cacti... ect ect)
Some will have perlite, some will have vermiculite, others will have grit.
All in all, I end up putting all of this in my
compost stream in small amounts. I still have about 15-20 gallons of spent material from dieback, residual from planting starts, and from purchased plants that have been up-potted. I don't want to add too much as once and god forbid buffer the composting process.
I have not had any perceived negative effects, but I was wondering what other people do.
Does it go in the compost? Do you 'rejuvenate' the soil and
reuse it? What do you do?
