(Or, hijacking Pearl's Post)
Just thought I'd start a thread about the details of each Pumpkin/Squash I've sampled so far, in case anybody needs it. Most samples were roasted, that's just how I prefer them. More to come, also Pics are not mine.

ButterNut Squash

A classic. We all know this guy but I thought I'd add him anyway. 10/10, a mild sweet flavor when roasted, not too wet.

Spaghetti Squash

Pretty good. Don't let anyone tell you it's a spaghetti substitute, but it's not bad on it's own. 8/10. No flavor, best used disguised in casseroles.

Acorn Squash

My favorite, 10/10. Sweeter than butternut, a nice dense texture. Bonus: when roasted, the bottom caramelizes and gets sticky-yummmm!
When picking one out, go for the darkest black green you can find, that has the least amount of orange. I got one that was mostly orange and it was nasty IMO

PA Dutch Crookneck Squash

Not a fan, honestly. It was like a rancid butternut Maybe I got a bad one?
Flavor was just off. Texture was wet and spongyish.

Buttercup Squash

Really good!! Very dense, creamy texture. I love it. Flavor is not as sweet as acorn but still very very good.

Red Warty Thing Squash

Not great. Odd rancid taste, once again could have been a bad one. Not to be confused with hubbard!

rouge vif d'etampes

Hard NOPE!! I baked it in prep for soup...while beautiful, it was really bad...texture like a plastic sponge and when squeezed, water just pours out. I can't see it being any kind of good cookin'

Blue Doll

Suprisingly not bad! I did not have high hopes based on pre-roasting texture but it's nice. A bit like carrots. Does well with cheese on top.

Golden Nugget

Also very good, pretty much the same actually. A little more savory. Kind of hard to get into, it required a cleaver. About baseball sized but mostly meat inside!

Delicata Squash

Tried this once and didn't like it, evidently it was a bad one because I tried another and I'm so glad I did! Quite good. You can eat the skin as well. It seems the ones with green or brown stripes are not as good as the ones with orange stripes.

Red Kuri

Very very good! Extremely dense and creamy, like a dense sweet potato.
