Have you heard about this annual event at Monticello? http://heritageharvestfestival.com/

Yes! It is listed in an online newsletter I get every month for the state of Va. We are about an hour and a half from there. Thank You!

Cortland, I'd be interested in any sort of exchange/group you could find.

Been looking for somewhere to organize/participate in group buys, trade things, etc.

Hi Rich!

What are you looking to trade? We are close enough to do trades locally. I do have an informal network of close by persons to trade with as well.

Nothing specific at the moment.

I'll be looking for some apple scion wood later in the year, and I'm always looking for things like figs I don't have, or any other fruits that can easily be rooted.

I just moved to the area a couple months ago, so I don't really have any sort of gardening network.

Hello - I was just going to post on this topic today! I am looking for a local (central VA) source for Comfrey. Would be willing to pay or trade (although I think I will only have an excess of thornless blackberries this spring). I am just getting into permaculture - we used to operate an organic vegetable farm but gave up years ago - just grow a garden for ourselves now. I am also interested in any local sources for nut trees and would be very interested in seeing any established food forests in the area.

Don't forget books!
Along with seeds, bring some books to swap.

@David...

No comfrey here. I do have hickories for trade and we will have nut seedlings for sale later this year (we buy bulk and split with local permies). I could trade hickories (or oaks if you need any) for thornless blackberries...I am real tired of being poked by our natives, lol!

@Ken...

Good Point! I do have some books I bought and find I do not need; will check after work today and post what I have.

@Rich...

We have several cultivars of apples; when I prune we offer the scion wood for trade in network, then for sale.

@Everyone...

If you would like regular contact (1x week-1x month) on trades available; please PM me with an email and I will add you to our current network.

Also, for those who do not know, we do have a sale on fruit tree seedlings going for this April. Our ad is posted on Craigslist (Richmond). If you are local enough to do a pick up; check out the ad and contact us through it. (Not posting the sale on permies, as it is pick only.)

@David...

Our place is not yet open for tours (too much of our new food forest is under 42"). However, we do have mock-ups of what we are doing and would be happy to email you those; plus, give input on yours or your google earth of your place. Would love input from your background as it applies to zone 7 (we were from much warmer areas and are still learning this zone).

Note to self: don't get into a fist fight with a cactus. Command this tiny ad to do it:
