censorship

Censorship on a forum is the act of deleting a post.  This is also referred to as being selective as to what to publish.  I delete spam almost every day. 

My 20+ years of online forum management tells me that most forums devolve to useless fluff or six people in asbestos suits flaming each other while 20,000 leave.  So I must actively prevent both of these things.    Anything that anybody writes in these forums has to meet my standards or I will elect to not publish the post.  And you can call it censorship if you like.

and without it who knows what sort of unacceptable (fertilizer) would show up along side the spam

I have little to no experiance with other fourms.  I had no idea how much work it is. 

You do a great job as I thought people here were just mostly nice and stayed close to topic. 

Feel free to edit out stupid remarks from me to make me appear nicer or smarter than I am.

I think there has been a lot of really meaty discussion lately and I've actually done very little.  I think that precedence is the most powerful deterrent to things going sour. 

I am coming from several other sites.  The energy here is obvious and refreshing. 

And I know that is not just the posters, Paul, that gives that result.

Wow, who knew discussing such an awkward topic could lead to so much praise!  I'll have to talk about awkward stuff more often!  Thanks Charles!

I also have had experience with other sites, and although I will absolutely agree that "six people in asbestos suits flaming each other" is not what should be happening of course, I also would never agree to deleting a whole subject just because there is a conflict within its posts/posters, nor do I think anyone should applaud the concept of censorship, even in humor.
20,000 people may well leave due to "Flamming", but 20,000 people may leave or never get involved if even a simple concept is shot down by someone with either no proper basis, or because of a false basis.
- Or especially, with some forums, where favorites are played, and one person gets away with flamming, while the person getting flamed gets penalized for pointing it out and defending themselves or the subject.

I am not here to stroke or babysit anyone's ego, I am here to share positive ideas.
Nor am I going to be anyone's door mat, nor should anyone else be.
I have definitely and repeatedly shown appreciation for anything whatsoever helpful.

Ok... the cost/benefit ratio here is taking a nose dive...
