I'm a little behind in my fall breeding and 1 of my bucks has gone gay or brain dead and he's my younger buck - he just sniffs a bit and goes off in the corner. Thus I'm having rely the ole man. My usual practice has been a week between use but only that far apart because of regular job requirements. Can I expect the ole guy to go every day?

I have no science to give a solid answer on this one. I will ask on another board and get back with their consensus.

I do know it takes a human male three days to fully re-charge...I would guess that would be less for a rabbit.

They can go alot. Its just generally better to go less and know to get good litters then have him cover alot and get small litters or does not take.

I have done three does in a day. Doe one in the mornin, doe two at noon-ish, doe three in the evenin. Next day breed doe three in mornin, doe two noon-ish, doe one evening. And all three took and had average litters.

It depends on the stamina of the individual buck mostly.

And the young buck.. it seems in my experience they take longer to "get it" than people assume. My bucks were 9 months and 11 months before they understood what to do each time a doe is put in their pen/cage.

I have an older buck that is a champ in the mating department. Three does in one day isn't that big of a deal for him even though I allow him to breed each doe a couple of times before I take her out of the cage. He gets a recovery for a few hours and then... NEXT! Like Kadence my younger male hasn't quite got the hang of it. he gives up too easily but has had some successes. I've found that by putting the two bucks cages next to each other and then bringing a doe to the older male, I can get the younger male to be more in the mood. Then the younger is more likely to put more effort into his job.

Also, don't over feed your rabbits. Fat rabbits are lazy and don't have as high of a success rate with breeding.

I like to have my litters all born around the same day in case the doe kindles too many and I need to move some to another mother. This is also good when it comes to butcher time, as I can easily dress a few dozen rabbits in a day.

Hi Elvis
Simple answer to 4 month old doe getting pregnant - depends on the breed.
Usually smaller breeds (Dwarf and super dwarf) become sexually active at a younger age. But its advised to wait until about 6 months before breeding so she is better able to handle the pregnancy, birth and rearing.

Similar to humans - some modern girls get menses at 10, but its still not a good idea for girls to start having sex or babies for several years, usually 18+ due to physical and emotional maturity.

Just cause you can, don't mean you should.
