Hi everyone. My sons, nephews, and friends (so far 8 in all) are on an ambitious expedition called Life On the Wind (LOTW): to contact, assist, film and document permaculture farms throughout Central America, Columbia, Venezuela, and Trinidad -- by bicycle!

Their project has three goals:

1. Learn how permaculture is being done in places that need it most.
2. Create a network of permies in Central and the northern part of South America (hopefully to spread further south).
3. Create a film documentary of the expedition and the farms they visit.

Eventually they plan to acquire land and create their own farm as a hub, education, and support center for other permaculture farmers, using what they'll learn on their journey over the next year or so.

They started their bike trip at Shelton, Washington on October 6 and are now in Bahia de los Angeles, about halfway down the Baja California coast on the Sea of Cortez side. Just so you know they aren't kidding.

Their eventual destination is a farm on Trinidad run by Erle Rahaman-Noronha. He's teaching permaculture to the locals there. His farm is the model that the LOTW crew wants to duplicate somewhere in the next couple of years. Here's a great TED talk about Erle's project: http://tedxportofspain.com/portfolio/erle-rahaman-noronha/

LOTW launched an Indiegogo project recently. Please check it out. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/life-on-the-wind--2

I'd love it if anyone wants to contribute to their project or even just leave a comment wishing them well, but that wasn't the reason for this post.

This post is to ask if any of you know of groups, organizations, or individuals who would be interested in LOTW's endeavor, so that I can make them aware of it. I just assumed that at least some of the folks on this forum would either be interested or know others who would be. I'm not plugged into the permie world well enough to know even the usual suspects.

Any leads, pointers, suggestions, or simple encouragement for these amazing guys (and a couple of amazing ladies now!) would be greatly appreciated as they bicycle their way through an incredible learning and networking adventure in wonderfully rich part of the world.

You can check out what they've written up and filmed so far at http://lifeonthewind.com/. Their Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/lifeonthewind

Thanks for your time and anything you can suggest!

Thanks Miles! Yeah, adventurous for sure! I'm really proud of them... and just a tad envious, too.

I'm not sure if I approve of this interruption. But this tiny ad checks out:
