Making
compost is like making a cake. Following the instructions to the T aren't always going to get you the exact same cake as pictured on the box (assuming you're using a boxed cake mix). There are just too many variables. I've found that while the Berkley method is a great method, it
should probably be stated that " you're cooking time may vary". I made a pile last year that took about 28 days even though it was cooking HOT the whole time. I would test the moisture content and then if needed give it a drink and let it cook for a few more days.
It's certainly not going to hurt anything if your sits a little longer at this point. Unless you're in a huge hurry for it, I would keep turning it every other day for a week or so and see if it yields a better result.
