Hello there!

My name is Cat and for the past 17 months I have been reclaiming a family property that was abandoned for 15 years. This is a labor of love. My uncle died tragically when I was a kid and this was his home that he never finished. I am currently here alone with a dog and ducks. It is just over an acre on an island in Charleston, SC only accessible by boat. There is no ferry and no cars on the island. It is a 10 minute paddle from the marina to get here. This is a 2 mile slice of paradise amidst a charming southern city. I have been slowly collecting perennials and designing permaculture systems. I have an outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet outside. I am looking for an individual that is laid back and a hard worker to help me. I would love to find someone experienced with gardening and permaculture and building. I currently have a few tent platforms in the woods behind the house but I plan to build a few small structures for folks to sleep in. The first project I would like help completing would be such a structure and the person would then stay in there. I travel a lot so I am looking for someone that can be here and take care of the plants and animals when I am away that understands how everything functions over here. I play music and make art and live a relatively carefree life here on this beautiful, peaceful island. I ate crabs for breakfast this morning that I caught off of the dock. There is great fishing and lots of clams and oysters for the picking! I care about this place immensely but I just cannot stay in one place all the time. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further!

Thank you, have a great day!!

hi Cat.
where abouts in South Carolina are you? I am very familiar with Growing in subtropical conditions. My primary permaculture education was in North Central Florida where a friend and I rented a few different parcels of land where we instituted natural growing/permaculture designs into our homestead. I have experience growing for butterflies and pollinators as well. I am currently in Illinois visiting friends and family after being away for the past several years. I would like to discuss further what it it you might need there as far as help. I am a nonsmoker, drug free, and drink infrequently and primarily socially. I am responsible and am currently on a prospecting adventure scouting for an opportunity that will be the right fit. Let's start a dialogue.

Hi Cat,
Sounds wonderful! I wish you luck! If I was in the area i'd love to come give you a hand, in exchange for a "remote" island stay. I've built 2 sustainable structures(1 that ive lived in for over 3 years) and it was the best thing i ever did(so far). I will recommend giving it a shot on your own, you'll never believe how much you can accomplish by putting your mind to it! I went into my projects seeing them as a practical and cheap education, don't be scared to make mistakes!
cheers!

-Ross

I'm interested, Charleston seems like a good area to area to escape the cold VT winter. I'm less experienced at building than gardening. Well-versed in living primitively and with work exchanges, mostly through HelpX. Haven't taken a PDC but I've been intensely interested for years now so most of the principles are integrated. Past few years been getting hands-on experience organic vegetable farming, decorative perennial beds, and playing around with stuff in my own wild little gardens. Currently into volunteer plants, growing in compost piles, seed saving, and wild foods.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Courtney Bibb. I'm 41 and a single mother to a 16 year old daughter. I work full time as a police officer and have been for almost ten years.

I also have guardianship over my two month old grand daughter and I've a fury baby, he weighs about six lbs.

I'm currently attending school online full-time. My career path takes me to new heights as a naturopathic doctor.

The reason I'm wanting to leave a stable and secure job, I'm sure you want to know. I'm ready to get out of the city life and go back to my country roots. I was raised in mobile, Alabama and I miss the country air. I'm ready to explore new opportunity. My job as a police officer places me in obligations that warrant me to make negative changes. I'm constantly reminded of mean and evil people. I'm subjecting to gun violence, child abuse, deadly accidents and police suicide. I'm ready for change. I'm ready for positive changes and new inspiration.

I'm a hard worker. I'm dedicated and a team player. I don't smoke, don't do drugs and rarely do I drink a glass of wine.

I'm also in to yoga and I can teach meditation and nutrition courses.

Also, I'm a vegetarian and I'm educated in non GMO/gluten free diet.
I'm looking for a place that I can work in exchange for housing. I do have a car payment/car insurance that I'm responsible for, however, I will work doing whatever I need to do around the farm, house or errands. Having transportation I feel is a plus. I can commit to 30 hours a week in exchange for housing.

I hope you find my profile of great benefit My email is csa592@yahoo.com and 912-656-8807. I look forward to speaking to you and your family soon. Kind regards.... Courtney plus I'm in savannah.

Hello Cat! I am very interested in coming down from Kentucky to meet you and help us both out. I have lots of knowledge and skills in these areas and would be happy to stay while your gone and care for the animals. Let me know...
