how do you use this website?

i do not see how to use this. how to say anything. how to enter any topic or ask any question or make any suggestion. maybe i am computer-stoopid but i am not so dumb about earth things.

Well, you posted a new thread (topic) here so that would cover 'how to enter any topic or ask any question'.

Its always best when new to a place to scroll and look around - you should see 3 buttons at the bottom of any thread, just under the cabin image with smoking chimney. Post Reply Bookmark it Watch this Topic

At the bottom of my post is a link to the "Universal Introductions" thread built by Dave Burton. It has lots of links to different topics that help for navigating the forums and the like. Hopefully the hints from there and what Jami posted above will help to improve your Permies experience.

The "post reply" or "post quick reply" buttons at the bottom of this topic is likely how you did it. Off to the left of all of this are "forum buttons" that you can select and go into the various fora. In there will be a big window with lots of things to click on, or on the right will be a list of recent topics that you can click on. Way down at the bottom will be a row of numbered buttons that take you farther back into the forum topics list.

Please read the Universal Introduction thread that will help you with lots of information about posting, starting your own topic (like you did with this one) and going from there. If you see blue letters in a post, that is most likely a link to another topic or even information from another website that is pertinent to the topic being discussed.

Take your time, and you will figure it out, forums are a great means of communicating with each other.

There is a huge difference between the mobile website and the desktop/laptop version. For instance with the mobile website version the posting is rather cranky. But the desktop version has all the bells and whistles.

If you go to https://permies.com/forum all the various categories are there to choose from. When choosing a category you then see gobs of posts from previous questions.

I can only speak for myself but I always assume a topic has never been discussed so my first thought is to start a new post. Actually though if I would do a new 'search' first I might discover someone has already talked about my desired post. Or maybe I might discover this search allowed me to start my new post with more clarity.

Cherie, which sub forum are you trying to ask a question in? Are you trying to start a new conversation (aka a thread), or reply to an existing conversation?

Here's the full list of forums (Mike posted above) https://permies.com/forums . Some of those forums are open to the select few only (you need a certain number of 'apples' to post in them), those are the Cider Press forums form memory, I think all the others are open to anyone.
