Anyone on this board have any local remedies to help stave off sickness?  3/6 of us woke up this morning feeling absolutely terrible and while it's probably a common cold, anyone have any good home remedies to help you feel a bit better and be more productive?

I actually went to sleep at 6pm last night on the couch and didn't wake up until it was time to take the kids to school hahaha.

I used to use a mix of kombucha tea and orange juice but that doesn't sound like it would sit well on my stomach at all today.

Hot herbal tea (like Echinacia or Cold Care) with honey and lemon

Plenty of garlic and ginger. You can take a raw clove of garlic and just munch it.

If it's a throat ailment, a hot toddie would work--a bit of whiskey or brandy with warm water or tea and lemon.

Fell better!

Sounds like your doing the best thing, which is rest. Also get some fresh air and make sure you eat enough, nothing with grease or dairy. I always like some hot soup, of course. Lots of veggies and funny movies or books. Laughter actually makes your body heal itself faster and it also needs energy from food to put in a good fight. A spoonful of honey or a half lemon will soothe your throat if that's what hurts. Some people mix these together, but for me a straight lemon with salt always works best if I have a sore throat. Small, frequent sips of a clear pop make my stomach feel better if it is upset. Are you feeling any better today?

I feel a tad better today.  I wandered around the Good Food Store looking for something new to try but didn't leave with anything.  Instead I went to my least favorite store, the Missoula Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Hidden in the produce section is some sweet chili powder like the kind that comes with Mexican candy.  I cut up a bunch of mangoes and watermelon and dumped that powder all over them and was in heaven.  When I was a kid I had a Mexican candy truck instead of a normal ice cream truck so it was a really nice taste I'd been missing haha.

There are vitamin packets called Emergen-C that you can add to water which really help as well.

Bring me the box labeled "thinking cap" ... and then read this tiny ad:
