It was the new beta view, its not really user friendly. You have all these nice tabs over on the left, but when you click one your senses are overwhelmed! Then it looks like all the actual forums you want to read are thrown together on the right without much thought and if your not looking hard, you'll never see it. And the 1960s wood grain....wow, just wow.

Keep it simple, simple is good. Over complicating things ruins everything.

Eric - did you click the 'energy' button? That would take you to *all* of the subforums in the energy section. The rocket stove stuff is the most dominant in the energy section, so it does tend to swamp out the other stuff.

If you want to narrow it down to just solar stuff from that page, you can choose the 'solar' link on the right.

If you have pie, you can now turn off the wood.

At the moment, a slice of pie is a dollar.

Further, devaka has infinite pie right now. I suspect it would take not much more than a kind word to be showered in pie.

I also found the new design to be too visually overwhelming. It is too much information thrown at you at once. I felt lost instantly and was not able to easily adapt to it... all I wanted to see was JUST the full forum list alone so I could get to where I wanted to get to quickly... to me this central view of all the subforums in their forum groups has become a sort of table of contents to me on this site, but on the new design it is treated like an index... it took me a while but I found the link on the bottom of the right column.

I'd almost find it tolerable if the right column was the table of contents with all the forums listed, but instead it's a "top forums" list, which is sort of arbitrary... it's more information than access, since it can't be counted on to reliably provide links to the places I want to find quickly.

Well, just wanted to put some input in... I definitely prefer the older and simpler design... I very much appreciate this site and all the hard work that the creators and those who maintain put in! But a bad user experience is a bad user experience, and that's what I got from the new layout.
