I just went by a note on one of the survival groups I read that I thought was worth sharing.  The guy had taken a bucket bigger than his ice cream maker and put it over the outside of his maker bucket and filled the area between with spray foam.  Said he went from using all the ice his freezer made plus 2 bags of ice to do a batch of homemade ice cream down to being able to just do it on the ice his freezer made.
