Fresh clean
water for your livestock is an essential part of raising any animal. We are lucky to have continuous running fresh cold artisan gravity water. Supplying it for piggys is just a little bit harder than for the house ! They really like to
root around and under the water pail , making flipping it over that much easier... My first year I learned to keep the
bucket tied off too and outside the
fence. That helped a bunch. Then you have a size problem where a weiner can step right on through a hole that an adult can only get their head through. Many years have passed of "shrinking with tie wire" an adult size hole down to a piglet size hole... Some years it worked... some years a weiner would get through. This year I finally made a better improvement. Sheet metal backing to limit the view... wooden planks to keep small heads inside the water bucket. I also improved the overflow system to carry the excess water down the hill and into a wetland draw, it always went there but in years past the piggys would find a way to get that excess water to POOL inside their
fence just for them ! Smart piggys a pool and a potty box all in one .... This year I remove the supply hose from the water pail and slide it alongside the bucket to create a temporary pool to cool off in, NOT an extended bathroom with connected pool ! 1/2 hour run time will supply a pool for all afternoon on the hottest day. Now the piggys have a pool when I think they need one and fresh cold water to drink all of the time! Remember Happy , Healthy ,Piggys taste better than industrial raised pigs every time!
