Not how to balance a check book - that is simple math, but really focusing on TVM - the Time Value of Money and in graining in all of us the benefits of saving early and consistently!

I was in a class, called everyday math, it taught you how to write a check, get the height of a tree with an right angle.

Ronald  Reagan talked about 401K plans, being young & impressed by much of what he said, I remember the 401-K & signed up for one when I had the chance. I retired at 59 years & three months.
Just wish he had told me about EVs & Bitcoin. (: (:

My kids finished high school 3 years ago. They did CAVA and one of their math classes were practical math. They learned about checking and savings accounts. How to pay a bill, how to do their taxes, balance a checkbook, make a budget etc. they all loves that class. It was through that class that my son found his joy for watching money grow, and his hate for using it. It led to him now studying accounting. I am very happy that all three of my kids took that class.

Dione Holt wrote:We were taught nutrition from the food pyramid and I've come to realize how flawed it is and likely influenced by American agriculture industry. Nutrition should really emphasize the importance of fresh fruit and vegetables. I realize now how much nutrition influences everything beyond just getting enough protein, carbohydrates and fats. Hopefully it has changed since I was in high school but I doubt it.

The food pyramid does not take into account low quality conventional food, or the fact that different people need different amounts of carbohydrates, fat, and protein.
