I started some permanent garden beds (mostly for veggies) last spring and now I want to renew them. Not sure what to add. Do you redo all the layers except the dirt and
cardboard? Seems like I put down our
local amendment mix, llama or rabbit manure, composted
straw or woodchips and a layer of purchased
compost.
My idea this year is to do manure and straw again (have lots of composted straw), plus the compost. Or can I get away with just some of those ingredients (for example, just compost)? Also, I am not sure whether to repeat with the amendments this year.
Some beds have potates and onions that I planted in the fall, so do I amend these now or wait til the beds are empty? I may end up interplanting somewhat so that would have to wait.
