Summary
Summary graciously provided by Joshua Myrvaagnes.
Paul is extremely frustrated that the book has not sold a million copies. The problems are brutal; Paul is concerned about toxicity even more than global warming.
Some of the others had heat extremes in summer or unusual weather in winter.
People are saying they are desperate for solutions but then do not seem to listen to his. People are resigned to declining with grace. Paul finds it bizarre.
Maybe someone listening to the podcast can get the book to Greta Thunberg.
Katy thinks people are caught in what is mediatized and what is normal to them, they can’t hear the words.
He has tried to contact celebrities, as many people have suggested, and generally not gotten a response. The one who did eventually went silent. He tried this for 6-7 years and now has given up.
Paul states that the book does not advocate anything in the domain of sacrifice, with one arguable exception, that a
rocket mass heater does not have an automatic thermostat. However it can be operated with supplemental heat on thermostat, and the thermostat turned down much lower. The
rocket mass heater can be pumped up to a balmy temperature without cost.
Someone has asked Paul if a
rocket mass heater could be run on natural gas or electricity with more efficiency, and he thinks it could get a cleaner burn for gas but not electricity. The mass would not add efficiency.
A rocket mass heater cannot be run inefficiently as people generally do with a
wood stove, closing the dampers to keep a log smoldering overnight.
Paul is extremely eager to share exciting news from recent conversations with the Liberator
rocket mass heater production company, and that will be in another podcast soon.
