I give this book 10 out of 10 acorns.

Growing Gourmet & Medicinal Mushrooms by Paul Stamets is considered by myself to be the all time best mushroom handbook to learn how mushrooms work and why. This massive tome of a book is an engaging read with a plethora of great images to compliment the text. While technical in some parts of the book, I do not consider it dense in the least. The author does a great job building upon knowledge that the reader is introduced to in the book and guiding their understanding of the who/what/why/where/when/how of mushrooms. I really appreciate that in the very least, the author touches on multiple subjects within mushrooms such as mycelium survival in winter, types of trees and if they are candidates for mushroom cultivation, as well as mycoremediation. This book provides it's readers understanding of decomposer fungi and the different subsets that exist within for different stages of decomposition. I really can go on and on about the fascinating information within but I must leave it up to individuals to take the time to read it.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone. This is a must read for anyone interested in mushrooms.
