Okay, Im trying no antibiotic starter feed. Thanks Wombat and DirtBall. By the way, I love the Hen Cam website!

Hi Chicken Experts,
I have a quick question because I just brought home 3 pullets from a garage sale down the street. I have a coop but want to know if I REALLY need the starter feed with the antibiotics. The guy at the feed store says yes, but I wanted to see what forum memners think.

Anybody out there raising quail for eggs? I have an empty rabbit cage (see pastured rabbits section, there is a photo) Basically, its 55sq ft with chicken wire buried 6inches down.

There is a covered area, but I am wondering if they need somewhere to roost.

I have never raised poultry before and would like to know if this is for the experienced people 

I live in Burien and have some white salsify that has gone to seed. If you are interested, I can  mail you some with a self-addressed stamped envelope.

This is outdoors and the rabbit does have its own hutch as well. After hearing what you have to say, I might not be prepared for the "mess" this could create. The rabbit is so clean and soft now!

We buried the fence about 6" down and angled toward the inside of the cage. I forgot to mention that we made them a burrowlike habitation out of a recycled bin with a makeshify lid ontop. This thing has a ramp that we call a "drawbridge" because its his castle. I filled with with arborist chips for him to move around.

Maybe you can see it in the pics. He seems happy and content with 55 sq ft of area, but I must say it was never my intention to have a fixed location for him to run around in.

We are sad to say that there is only one rabbit now because his brother passed away. The living bunny is getting special attention these days. His brother lived to be aroung 8 or 9 years old.

Mowing higher means that the grass blades will shade out ground. Oxalis needs light and low nitrogen (It fixes its own nitrogen from the air). Fertilize by leaving the grass clippings and mow high. Also, watering deeply less often will help because the grass roots will grow deeper. Oxalis just send out runners on the surface.

I want to add a chicken coop to a fenced run that my rabbit currently uses. Does anyone know if I could have a shared space that chickens and a rabbit could share?

My husband and I used to take a 25 ft length of chicken wire and quietly and slowly encircle the bugger until he was in a makeshift fenced area. You need 2 patient people. We though it kinf of fun actually.
