yep the site and the info are good! i mainly lurk and give info from my 38 years of farming mainly organically. never say you can't teach an old farmer new tricks! gotten some great ideas from folks here!

congratulations jami !! as the Mod of a couple of forums on another homesteading board (one of them a real handfull!) i can tell ya its never boring!

paul, compared too one of the forums that i Mod with a cudgel, folks on this board are very nice! you should be proud of them!  now if someone wants to call me names for taking on HT's general chat i would have too agree! still, someone has to make it a civil place and a tough skinned old farmer with a pitch fork may just be what the posters need to straighten up!

here in the great white north, i can remember as a kid, mom hanging stuff out on the line, coldest day of the winter, and it coming in stiff as a board! usually pretty dry when it thawed out! we did have a clothes line in the basement when mom did not feel like braving the cold ! i am almost 50 so not something new! (i still hang stuff out most any weather though we do have a nice sunporch on the house to hang stuff in!

we burn lots of wood with nails in them in our boilers!we  take the ash and nails and spread in a ring around fruit trees as brenda was saying, with a dose of manure on top.  has brought new life too our old trees !

well it was not me shut ya down on that thread paul! it takes different methods to do things all over, if we free range birds here we are just feeding the wildlife!
there was also an HT mod that encouraged your posts.
i have given out the same punishment to persons that have been disrespectful of  others and have gotten the same (many years ago!) when i lost my quick temper!

HT has been having some moments lately, hopefully the bugs will be ironed out again soon!

moose (AKA swamp donks) are awesome animals! also a large rock when you hit them! friend of ours cousin was driving a new ford truck home from the dealer when a moose stepped out in front of him. demolished the truck!!  mostly they like very dark, cool swamps and don't like interacting with humans, i have tracked moose through some very dark swamps! (camera hunt!)
