I was not sure where to leave general recommendations or ideas about the podcasts.

Suggestion: request the developer of Podcast Addict to add Paul's Permaculture Podcast to their curated list.
Podcast Addict is the largest and most used podcast app on Android and I can't find anything on permaculture, permies, Paul, richsoil or anything else.
However, searching these databases online I can find the podcast RSS feed, just not in the app.

An option is actually to spray your plants with water. When water freezes, it releases heat (a little counterintuitive, I know, but that's why you have to put water in a cold place to freeze it - you have to take away heat). So, if your plants have a thin layer of water on them that freezes, it actually helps keep them warmer. Additionally, the layer of ice, being a good insulator, will then help keep the plant warmer through the cold spell.

Now with winter in the Northern hemisphere I thought this particular video would be good to bring up again as a usefull recource.

My brother and I were both home-schooled 'till the age of 16 and then went to the Swedish equivalent of "high-school". Quite a legal battle for my parents to be allowed to do that. I remember sitting in a court-room at the age of 8. So far I think that the concerns that those against the notion of home-school harbour have been proven wrong by myself, and the other home-schooled children I know.

I often find myself wondering what folks/homesteaders did in the past during the long winter months... before computers, electricity or any of the rest.

I think that it might have included a lot of introspection, but I think also it meant learning and understanding of the thoughts and feelings of others - family, friends. Winter; the season for person-care and person-understanding... but also a time when new ideas can be pondered, things which have happened can be discussed and problems shared.

See winter as hibernation period in preperation for the long days of summer when more physical areas of work require our attention.

An outdoor toilet that after each use gets a handful of saw-dust/wood-chips, if you then consider the added carbon of the toilet paper used I think that your compost pile at the end of it will have a very good C-N ratio. The urine will hence be stored for whenever you need it.
