Here is a teaser to what is awaiting you if you can make your mind up fast enough, that is before September 1st, 2013:

Mind you, it is a producing landscape already! This cherry season we canned about 100 jars of sour cherries and cherries alone and the apple, peach, pear and plum season is still ahead. And while waiting for the preserves to age, you can (could) just sit down by a bowl of walnuts and hazelnuts, crunching away...

The price of this privilege is € 42,000, the equivalent of 12,000,000 HUF, payable in Hungarian Forints.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely, Cheryl and Roland Magyar

Thanks for checking it out! We are just about to fire up the loom again (haven't used it for almost three years on account of our daughter ready to turn, well, three) and make cloth for pants. We will definitely post pictures of our progress.

In the meanwhile here are two of our wwoof-ers modeling our hats felted from the Hungarian Racka and cigája sheep wool:

and a little weaving with handspun yarn (racka with flax warp):

All of our daughter's clothing has been handmade by us parents from organic materials since her birth, it is about time we finish up on ours!

Even for firewood it is a poor choice in our experience. It *pops* with low heat and isn't very pleasant to split. Any other uses though?, anyone's guess is as good as mine. Any great woodworker can turn a branch into a gem...

Intentional communities are starting to form the world over, why not join us here?

On the sunny Hungarian plains of the European Union we invite you to buy yourself into the adventure of being the second settler at Echo, an ecological community under formation that is unique in its uncompromising approach to sustainability, well, sustainedness.

We are about to hand-create all of our wardrobes, one garment and pair of footwear at a time, because we too believe that clothing should reflect your ethics, set of values. Our dwellings, all one of a kind, yet harmonizing with each other in materials (rammed earth, straw bale insulation, earthen plasters and floors, thatch) and aesthetics (organic shapes, earthy tones of colors and artful simplicity) are/will be nestled in woodland that we are gradually turning into a permanent (old-growth) and extensive forest gardens integrated with grazing meadows and productive wetland.

Our interests include forest gardens, creating shade, no soil disturbance gardening, omnivorous diet, cow-share, self reliance, unschooling/life-learning and so much more! Non-smokers only please.

We are seeking creative hands and minds to share life at Echo, in Ópusztaszer, Hungary. Email us for more details about visiting - we are open to residents from any country. Pictures are available in the following link: http://handcraftedtravellers.com/building-an-intentional-and-ecological-community-in-hungary/

We look forward to all serious inquiries and offers!

So great to see others interested in this topic!

We are on our own personal mission to handcraft our own fully compostable wardrobes as well and it seems like the way to go is to create it all on your own. Acquire the skills to do it: learn to knit, crochet, felt, spin, weave, tan leather, etc. We have most of the skills down, now just need the network of gathering organic materials which is the hard part of the job, especially here in Hungary. My husband has even gone so far as to make his own rope soled shoes, our daughter wears rope sandals, but mostly we are barefoot, even in the winter unless we have to spend longer than a few minutes outside. Earthing has been a great minimalist addition to our wardrobe, but this winter we are also seeking to make our own leather shoes. We have been able to source a couple of organic steer hides (harvest will be late in the year), so for now it looks like felt will be covering our feet in early winter... We are actively seeking people interested in the same - creating their own natural wardrobes, to form an intentional community in the sunny plains here, consciousness just needs to rise a little bit first.

The best we have found so far is zeolite mineral powder with just 2 drops of essential oil for about two tablespoons of powder. It took a very short time to get used to, but there is virtually no waste... but to get to zero waste we are experimenting with oak twigs. Cut a short branch and bite one end till it starts to come apart and start rubbing, gums too! In the meantime though we have gotten rid of gluten from our diets and more than a year ago got rid of nasty refined sugar. Oil pulling with organic coconut oil once a week and our teeth are as good as gold :) At least we can successfully avoid the dentist for the time being. We spend just $4 a year on the powder, so yeah, one could call it frugal too.

We have also long gotten rid of those all too breakable Bodum french presses, not just for the glass replacement, but also for the amount of plastic that actually touches the hot coffee. Instead we use our universal stainless steel pot, measure water in our glass cups, pour water into said pot and bring the artesian water to a rolling boil. Add 2 tablespoons (makes two cups) to the rippling water and stir. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Strain with a fine stainless steel tea strainer and enjoy! Everything is rinse-able without soap and everybody and mind is happy :)
