I live rural so there are no block parties and too most are up in age but there are few young people. I just turned 60 in May. I bought my 10 acer homestead which was raw land in 2007, and permanently moved here in 2015. My biggest problem is that I have no real friends. I know my neighbors but they pretty much stay to themselves and I never see any women outside doing the work that I do. I grow all my.l own produce in no till garden, use my tractor to cut the grass in my yard and pasture and yes so till only where I grow my corn and sweet potatoes. So im outside alot during warm months. So does anyone have any ideas on how a woman my age can meet a friend or two? I've tried the churches around here but didn't really care for it. I do my Bible stidy at home. Any tips are appreciated. It gets lonely sometimes but I have to stay busy so thar doesn't happen. Ps. I have no family here. I was a single lady when I sold everything I had to move out of my home state to retire and live this lifestyle. Though it would be really nice to have atleast a friend two. Thank you.

Muscovy ducks also love to eat ticks and they are extremely quiet birds. I love mine and prefer them over chickens any day. They're eggs are fantastic. I wouldn't trade them for anything. If you have chickens that won't sit on eggs? No worries muscovy hens will sit until on them until they hatch along with some of thier own eggs and they take care of them as they were their own. Yep, love muscovy ducks. Oh and they go inside in the evening by themselves I've found better than chickens. They're extremely easy to raise, also comical and I haven't had any tick issues since having them.  Give them a try.

Hello there 😊! Welcome. What would you like to know?
I'm in the Northeast corner of AL. Within 50 miles of Chattanooga TN and 13 miles of Menlo GA. So we're all pretty much in the tri-state area.
I'm on Lookout mountain. I'm looking for like minded folks for friends too. Friends to barter, trade or purchase animals, seeds and food- grass fed all organic.
Ive been searching to find some fresh raw milk of Jersey and goat milk to try a blindfolded test to see I can tell the difference between the two so I know what I want animal or source to buy for a milk for myself and family when they visit.
