Bangor is about 90 mins north of us. Beautiful area up that way as well!

Located on the outskirts of a small town but within 15 mins of 2 major towns and within 30 - 45 mins of the areas of Portland and Augusta, we are really in the middle of it all. Plenty of part time and full time job opportunities... looking for maybe 2 or 3 singles, couples, or small families - (single parents welcomed as well) looking to have a share in a small scale homesteading community. We have a couple dozen acres of land with a mix of farmable and woods. I have a potting shed, tiny indoor greenhouse, chicken coop, and some gardens started... so many more plans in the works.

Looking for long term interest after an initial one year lease with the opportunity to build your own tiny home or cabin on the property. You can take it with you, if it doesn’t work out or if you would like to move on... or maybe we could buy it from you? Minimal monthly financial contributions per person to mainly pay for taxes, insurance, emergency fund, utilities, food storage, supplies, equipment and tools. Once the property is paid off the contributions can be lowered or eliminated depending on how well we can become self sufficient as a tiny community. Must be willing to have a background check, supply some references, and be interviewed. No illegal drugs.

Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll try my best to answer. This is a relatively new concept for us and I may not have all the answers just yet but maybe we could work together to figure it out. There is a pull toward this direction so I’m going to give it a shot!

Let me know if you are interested...
Thank you in advance...

I am thinking of starting an intentional community for several different reasons; however, with one foot in the rat race and one foot in the Homesteading life I have friends on both sides of the fence, so to speak, that have shared concerns over starting or having a community on my property. Some concerns include but are not limited to - people moving on the property but not doing their “fair share”, people not taking part of the community responsibilities, opening myself up to liabilities over injuries, illegal activities that can put my family and/or property at risk, etc... Might sound like I’m being over the top but I can totally understand where my concerned friends are coming from... especially in this day and age. Do people create contacts or lease agreements for intentional communities and/or do background checks? I don’t really see or hear of anyone doing that sort of thing when they talk about creating communities. Any suggestions or advice if I were to venture down this path? Thanks in advance...

Hello, we are between the Lewiston/Auburn area and the Brunswick area. We are about 30-45 mins away from Portland depending on weather and traffic. Let me know if you are still looking for a spot.
