That sounds cool.  Is there somewhere online I can learn how to build an earthbox?  How does the self watering thing work.  Thanks.

I know MUD does a lot of classes for the community and Paul is certainly adding some great learning opportunities to the calendar with his presentations.

Are there other great chances to continue my eco-education beyond these?

Hopefully this thread will help get the word out for future events, classes, workshops, etc.

Thought I'd start a thread where folks could post Earth Day events that they know about.

On the 17th, the Clark Fork Coalition conducting a River Clean Up on the Clark Fork,

Rattlesnake Creek Watershed Group will be doing some restoration work in Bugbee Nature Park on Missoula Ave.

The University is hosting several restoration projects on campus and off.

What else is going on?

Does anyone know what's up with the last bit of trail that needs to be built to connect the river trail to the California Pedestrian Bridge.  It's so close but not quite there.  I've heard that it was supposed to be completed last fall...but it's still a leap of faith.

I thought it would be a good thing to promote this group that is trying to get an Amtrak line back to Missoula.  The timing for this seems pretty good right now.  Check out the website and the facebook group and take some time to call or write Sens Baucus and Tester or Rep Rehberg about this issue.

I think that the missoula community news list-serve is a great place to learn about local jobs.  There's several listed on there right now...Abode, Garden City Harvest, Blackfoot Challenge, and others have jobs on there right now (2/24/10)  Sign up below

Here it is Paul,

I'll start.  I think the Rattlesnake is absolutely incredible for mountain biking (also for hiking, fishing, camping, x-country skiing, etc.)  At least twice a year, I try to ride up to Franklin Bridge, it's spectacular in the fall when the larch and cottonwood trees have turned yellow, but there's so many good rides there, it's hard to pick.

I also like riding along the Kim Williams Trail.

I'm interested in road routes though - where there's not tons of traffic and the views are decent.  As part of canoe shuttling, I've ridden along Big Flat Road a bit - all the way from Harper's Bridge.  That's a nice ride too, but the road is narrow.  (I think they're widening it though).
