We are getting older, and can’t keep up with the upkeep of a metal roof ( the fasteners, rivets, and screws need to be checked annually, and replaced fairly often in our climate), and honestly, we don’t have the funds for that increased cost, even if upkeep wasn’t an issue. The previous owners weren’t exactly honest about the age of the roof, and we find ourselves needing to replace sooner than we were planning and saving up for.

How long  after installing  a new shingle roof  must we wait before catching rainwater to safely use for plants and animals?

I don’t post often, but I am available as an experienced editor/proofreader.
Have you noticed improvement in your goats’ deficiencies since feeding these foods specifically for minerals?
I was actually printing your list from your website before I found tour post here too 😁.

What is the secret to getting hired on UpWork?
I use all my  free connects each month, and have yet to be chosen for a job.  I use proper spelling and grammar, and explain I have experience editing novels, but never get a response.

I  just purchased a house and want to start rainwater catchment. Walk me through where to find a rain barrel (they are so small and expensive at box stores- nothing in our area on FB or Craigslist), and the easiest way to begin, including installing gutters.
Links and videos welcome.

Also, secondary question….
Does anyone have wooden floors in their barn? Best way to protect them?

If you have a property with a creek, what have you planted near it?
Especially if it is in a slightly wooded area.

Do you have an update? How much is in the ground now? What have you changed from your original plans?

We are looking at homes to buy, and one has a lovely barn that is all one room. No stalls or any partitions.
I would love to use it for  a few small goats, chickens, and ducks.  Maybe a pair of geese.
We will use electronetting to rotationally graze them around the property, but bring them back to the barn at night.
What would be the best way to partition it for all types of animals to be happy, without having any prior building skills?
Links to photos of people using a barn in such a way  would be great.
