Hello!! I have 5 fresh Lily Magnolia Tree seeds I ordered and I am dying to germinate and get these babies started. I was given the instructions with them to plant them in early spring or to cold stratify for 120 days. I really hadn't planned on waiting until next spring to start these, and to cold stratify for 120 days is over 3 months and seems just about as far away as next spring even though its really not. So with that being said, I had them in the damp cloth in a bag in the fridge for about a week and then I dont know why but I got this bright idea in my head thinking maybe... just maybe, if I threw these babies into the freezer, that it would somehow confuse the seeds after a couple days of being frozen, into thinking winter just ended. I guess the thing I cant figure out is how seeds would actually know just how long they had been frozen exactly ....So being that its more the thawing out step that essentially wakes the seed up in this process as you mentioned above , maybe it could work in tricking these magnolia tree seeds into germinating. Especially to go from frozen ....and then a slow thaw and then onto the heated mat dont you think that may just do the trick being so drastic?? Maybe not but I figure its worth a try. Just curious on any thoughts you guys may have. Thanks in advance,
