I agree with William Bronson, converting the garage in to self storage is definitely a better use of the space rather than an apartment. We converted one of our unused outbuildings in to self storage and honestly the return has been immeasurable. Running costs and maintenance are minimal as the place pretty much runs itself and with most units occupied it was a no brainer, plus if you have addititional unused external space, you can also add some
external units or if you want to be able to move them then portable ones could be an option too.
