It seems to me that the barrel supplies much more heat via radiation than is being lost by cold air getting sucked into the room via negative pressure. However, if you don't have a barrel, and there is a significant delay between the time of firing and the delivery of heat via radiation of the thermal mass, then I expect the temperature inside the room will drop during firing on a cold day.
Re: the experiment with the fresh air intake, it seems to me that if the duct had been insulated, it would not cool the room.
