Hello, I discovered by accident that if I left a bucket of water in floor overnight there would be a drowned spider each morning. Kept the bucket out till stopped seeing then moved to new part of house. Greatly reduced maybe even eliminated the recluse from home 100 percent chemical and cost free. Good luck.

Hi, I had a long letter for you but couldnt get it to post. so the shorthand. Zen garden type raked gravel area, flagstone, drylaid brick or cordwood wafers. If use loose gravel "fence it in" or it will creep away. best wishes.

As to wheels under trailer.Every trailer I have ever seen has axels w/ wheels built in. After it is moved it is "set-up"by mover which means they level it with no weight on wheels. Concrete block piers are placed every 8 ft. or so up each side and pinned tightly to Ibeam .solid block under every door. The tongue can be unbolted and slid underneath front for when you are ready to move. YOu can sell them as the mover usually have their own and will bring for a very small charge.the axels, wheels and tires self store underneath the body of trailer. If you are sure it will be built on and never moved you can remove the axels and wheels and scrap them.Augers are drilled down each side deep in ground and metal tiedown straps are secured to main Ibeans and to drilled auger(looks like a HUGE dog tie out". this "setup" is included in the cost of moving(1600-2000) in ky. Then "underpinning" goes around the block piers which is a treated 2x4 runner along ground with 2x4 framing to fill in the open space between ground and bottom of trailer. a board is screwed along underside of trailer and it is all screwed together like a mini barn wall. folks here use painted metal screwed to framework and you can put doors for storage down each side too. It has been done exactly this way for the 25 yrs I have been living in various trailers.

this is off the cuff as I havnt researched parasite cycles ect. just had a thought. Cattle are mainly grazers and goats are mainly browsers. my goat loves multiflora rose, tough stuff, blooms, wierd weeds and stuff that I believe cattle would bypass unless starved.  the goat will nibble tall tops of things. seems like cattle like to graze closer to ground and pass over tall things. My calves would eat close and I would have to clip the tall parts of pasture.  I didn t have a goat then but the plants left in pasture by my calves were the ones my current goat would relish. read a Salatin book long ago about the hoop houses and he ran hogs in pens with laying hens loose in the hoops. He said every now and then the hogs would get a hen but not enough to change plan. Of course the hogs were confined to pens. I used to keep hogs in a 35x40 lot w/stall 2 per pen and had many hens and ducks moving in and out of pen all day. I never lost one but always had my eye on them and kept their tummys full. best wishes.

I used to put several large, smooth, clean stones in my horses feed bucket to slow her eating down. She had to work the stones back and forth to get the grain out. Maybe it would work for your goat too. Also, a few alfalfa cubes thrown in would give her something to work on after the grain was gone. they really have to chew them. Hope one or both of these ideas helps!

I Love this website and the folks that share it! Practical info plus good chuckles.  Too cool.

didnt mean to make it sound like movement was desired just that you go deep in soil to avoid movement.sorry for the confusion.

The freeze thaw cycle causes movement of a concrete footer unless it is below the depth where soil will freeze.  Because concrete is immobile it is subject to cracking(cant flex with the changing temps.) Sounds like you dont wnt to talk about trailers anymore but just to say, mine has 2x4 walls spaced at 16 in. on center, standard house insulation, 2x8 floor joists. Doors, windows and plumbing stuff can be harder to get. Just go to a mobile home dealer or order online. they are not all built alike. Im done.
