Growing mushrooms outdoors where mycelium is already present?

I want to start an outdoor bed for King Stropharia in my garden, however there is already a lot of mycelium in the area that I want to place the outdoor bed. Is it OK to grow an outdoor mushroom bed in an area already colonized with mycelium, or will it out compete the King Stropharia?
