A few months ago, I made some turkey tail mycellium block, using sawdust and grain spawn.
As they were not growing much more, I decided to harvest them. Since it's my first time using those kind of mushrooms, and since the blocks I made clearly are not up to quality standard (they didn't grow only turkey tails), I want to be sure the fruitbodies I harvested are good before doing a double extraction with them (alcohol maceration + decoction of the frutibodies after two weeks).
Here are two pictures, with the mycellium bag included. The first is not perfect (not completely white as I can see in videos online), but the second is mostly black/green, but I'm asking anyway.
Can I use these ? I think on the second picture, the one in the left hand corner should be composted. If other pictures are needed, feel free to ask.
I've put the first block in the fridge to reuse it, but I think I'm going to compost the second block. Far too little yield, and it seem way to much contaminated.
