Building Codes in Portland: Horizontal exhaust exit

I read on Wikipedia at rocket mass heaters that there is building codes being written in Portland for horizontal exhausts,

Does anybody know more about this? is it already approved?

what data did they use, is it based on a rocket mass heater?

Hi Jasper,
I believe the Portland rocket mass heater guidelines did allow a horizontal exit, on the condition that the building have mechanically balanced draft or outside air supplied for combustion.
I would still tend to go with a vertical exit in most buildings, for best draft. A membrane-roofed building or a short one might be a good candidate for the horizontal option.
