looking for help making serious changes/ updates to old hay farm in western catskills (near delhi), preferably through the harvest season. happy to provide room free of charge as long an agreed number of hours are met. only 2.5 hours from nyc, though will probably need a car to get around the area. ideal person will have a serious green thumb, as well as other homesteading talents that they can contribute. an endless amount of energy will be needed

i'm responding to your post primarily as i want to settle back into the Northeast (currently moving from Washington State via Florida).

is you posted name fictitious as in "princess bride"? just curious.

i am pretty self-sufficient and love growing and building. i am 61yrs old, single but very healthy and a working fiend. i cycled 3400 miles this past fall in 50 days from San Francisco to Jacksonville, FL. and seven years ago i rowed my rowing shell from Albany, NY to Arkansas, 1600 miles in 7 1/2 weeks. i run everyday and last worked (6 years) as an oil tankerman on the Eastern seaboard and gulf of alaska. i'm semi-retired now, carrying my own health insurance.

i love the catskills and want to relocate near the area to be closer to my son and grand daughter, who live in Vermont. i worked as a social worker most of my work life but held plenty of physical/mechanical part-time jobs. i still hold a USCG Captains' License and CDL. i owned/operated my own 20 acre organic farm in vermont while raising my son and have built/maintained my own homes. i co-founded a cooperative kitchen at SUNY at Stony Brook.

i just purchased a 21 ft Toyota Motorhome and it is all home to me now i have solar charging capability and need only water and an outhouse until harvest time when i'd move on. i don't really need any salary other than a possible stipend, mutually arranged. i want to totally transform to a non-GMO diet and row my boat (probably on the Erie Canal or Catskill lakes).
