New to inoculating logs & a few questions?

I have a neighbor that is taking down trees along the back of his property to put in a garden and was just going to use them as firewood. I have been wanting to purchase the kits to inoculating logs with shiitake mushroom plugs and what is the best way to stack them in my woods. Has anyone every done this with shiitake or any other varieties, with success?
