Hi folks:

I have recently calculated runoff volume for a pond we are looking to build. I first calculated the estimated annual and monthly runoff based on rainfall, and the runoff coefficient of our catchment area (mostly gravel driveway) - we are talking about 30,000 to 50,000 gals a year, or 3 - 4,000 a month.

From this, I want to correctly size the pond. Anyone have resources or information about calculations for taking estimated volume and sizing a pond based on this?

Steve

Steve,

There is an excellent publication put out by the Dept of Agriculture called "Ponds - Planning, Design, Construction". You can download the free 98 page pdf here www.in.nrcs.usda.gov/pdf%20files/PONDS.PDF
