Rooms for rent in farm house in Coeymans Hollow, half an hour south of Albany NY. We have several private living spaces approx 400 sq ft each which share furnished communal areas of living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and washroom. Rent is $350 a month plus shared utilities. We heat with wood stoves and have back up propane hot water baseboard heat. We have well water. There is plenty of room to grow things here and this summer we have started a small onsite organic veggie farm. We wish to keep our house meat free, so we ask for vegetarian roommates only. We do eat fish, once in a while but not very often. We also want to share space with people who use their consumer power to support organic and sustainably grown food and products. This is important to us. We are located on 225 acres of forest/farm property at the top of a mountain, at the end of a small road. The roads are kept clean in winter by the town. There are 3 houses on property at present, with a total of 10 people living here now. There are miles of hiking trails, abundant wild life, and a very peaceful and quiet atmosphere. Hunting is strictly forbidden. Motorbikes are not welcome. We enjoy the peace and want to keep it that way. We have just spent the past 3 years fixing up the place and repairing the buildings, now we move onto more interesting projects...we will be building cabins next year with natural and recycled materials, will be hosting workshops in various aspects of self reliance, sustainable living practices, and homesteading. We have 2 large ponds in front of the main house that we swim in, but we also enjoy swimming in a pristine mountain lake 7 minutes from the farm, and hardly anyone goes there, it is beautiful.
