There is a Mammoth Russian which has large seeds. Also now a gigantic variety that has seeds over an inch long. Neither are pest resistant and I have to bag them once there start to mature to keep the finches and squirrels from eating them. The
deer and groundhogs, raccoons are also a problem. I save citrus bags, that mesh type, which are very convenient to slip over them and tie with a rubber band or long piece of yarn. It helps if the cats are around to keep squirrels run off because they can rip off the bags. If you just want to press for oil, use those black oil seed varieties, which are 40% oil.
With appropriate microbes, minerals and organic matter, there is no need for pesticides or herbicides.
