Using Soot from wood stove

Hello all

I've just had my chimneys swept - any use for the soot? The stoves are all-wood. There are some traditional uses such as earthing-up celery but I don't grow celery! Soil improver? Slug deterrent? Nutrient?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I'm also interested in any possible way to use the soot from my chimney.

Soot, in the painter's trade is known as "Lamp Black".

You can turn a gallon of white paint into black paint (or any shade of grey you want).

EDITED to add: It works equally well in either water based or oil based paints.
