Just wanted to let you all know about an exciting course we have pulled together in Haiti following the International Convergence. This course will located at Sadhana Forest which is a vegan permaculture site. The focus will be on design techniques for the harshest of environments where earth repair is really needed.

Advanced Permaculture Design Course in Wasteland Regeneration ~ Re-establishing Abundant and Resilient Ecosystems on Barren, Neglected, and Abused lands.

Location: Anse-a-Pitre, Haiti Dates: December 6-10, 2013

Site: Sadhana Forest, Anse-a-Pitre, Haiti, www.sadhanaforesthaiti.org

Getting Here: We suggest flying to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and then a bus ride to Pedernales. From there Sadhana Forest Haiti will come pick you up.

Number of Participants: Limited to 20

Learning Environment: In Sadhana Forest Haiti they practice an eco-friendly way of life including veganism, solar energy, dry composting toilets, and different Permaculture techniques. This is an ideal setting to experience Permaculture unfolding on a new site so we are very happy they have opened their site to us!

Cost: $750 USD. Includes three vegan meals a day, camping and basic accommodations, and instruction.

I don't think I will be able to attend, but maybe I can help out your worthwhile effort. Not very far from me is the Coastal Georgia Botanical Garden, which has an impressive collection of different species of bamboo. If you would be interested in taking some new bamboos down to Haiti to help with your regeneration effort, perhaps I can help on this end seeing what they can provide.

Thank you John! That is very thoughtful. We are set with plant material at this time. The project constructed a nursery that can currently grow more than 50k trees, and will be scaled up at some point to 250k. The mayan nut is the focus now for its food security applications, and other trees are being grown and planted as well. Take care and feel free to spread the word about this course to your networks!
