Hello,

My name is Dan. This year I started my dream project in East Alabama (town of Ashland) to make my own homestead on 4 acres. I'm in early construction phase, and would love to find someone to share the journey and my life with.

I'm building everything myself, funded by myself. I have no debt and good credit.

My end goal is a food forest, a compound with a handful of small buildings, for me (us), visitors, and aging parents. There is an additional 12 acres for sale next door, so if you want to go bigger, we can! I'm mostly self studied with some volunteer experience in a variety of topics, like: permaculture, regenerative ag, animal husbandry, composting, korean natural farming (knf), fermentation, etc.

I'm originally a suburbs boy (miami), previous military, and wanted to transition to a more holistic life in-tune with nature and regenerative principles. I've done volunteer work on 4 farms in the last few years, so I'm not totally green, but by no means am I an expert.

So far I have built a shed (temporary living quarters), a gazeebo, and I am working on the first tiny house (eventually will be the guest house). There is a mountain spring fed creek on the property, where I get my water from.

The town is a bike ride away, complete with hospital, school, grocery stores, hardware stores, a couple restaurants, and more. It is a cute town with low crime. To the north is the southern tip of the appalachian mountains and lots of nature to explore.

The area also gets a good amount of rain and pretty decent conditions for growing. I'm on a slope and use trenches to collect runoff (like swales). I haven't started very far into planting other than getting 11 trees in the ground and some covercrop. The focus has largely been survival and construction.

I'm a bit of a nerd mixed with blue collar. I'm not afraid of doing things myself, and learning construction has been pretty fun. My previous occupations were aircraft technician and software product manager. I would love to start a family and live a simple life being self sustainable and be free of the rat-race that most people are caught in. E/INTJ personality, once described (and agreed with) as a 'mirror empath'. I'm a bit of a jack of all trades.

Anyways, I'm probably forgetting a ton of things, but maybe we could discuss more while we get to know each other.

I look forward to meeting you!

Dan

I am agnostic. I do not accept or reject any religion.

But why do you wear your googles indoors? While holding this tiny ad?
