Hey! I'm Philip. I currently live in WV. I'm looking for a place to start my own homesteading life, or build on with someone else. I have cash to buy my land, or use it to build on others. I'm just looking for the right place with the right features. I am not looking for romance, but a companion. The majority of people I have talked to, have a good talk. When it comes down to work though, they don't do anything, or worse, they make my job harder. I've spent my early years living on a homestead in Athens Ohio. Since then I have acquired as many skills as I could to be prepared for my homestead, I can build a house, repair a tractor, forge and weld my own steel, iron, bronze and copper. From making rope to cutting hay by hand. I recently had the opportunity to learn the insides and out of animal husbandry for goats, cows, chickens, and horses. Though I have yet to perfect my horse shoe making. I am willing to relocate anywhere with anyone who is hard working and educated in using land properly. I'm not really into all the spirituality talk, I know who and what I am. That's why I normally don't fit in at communes and the such. It doesn't matter to me what you believe, just don't attempt to change what I do, it won't work. If anyone is looking for a great farm hand, I'm your guy.

Let me know if there is any other info you want!

Hey Philip,

I posted in the forum with some details about what I'm working on:

"Looking for an Ecovillage"

I'm in Maryland. I used to attend school out in Frostburg, not too far from certain parts of WV. Are you near Keyser or another regiion in WV?

I have considered relocating to The Farm in Summerville, TN where they have apprenticeships that teach about many different aspects of forming an ecovillage, homesteading, permaculture, farming, and natural building. It would be challenging getting there because I don't have a car--at this point, it's a conscious and intentional choice. That's why I'm also looking to construct a bicycle trailer/sleeper so that I can be flexible in my living space and where/when I want to move about. The people in TN replied to me when I inquired and said that I would be welcome to go visit. They offer work exchange and the process of becoming a member will take some time, including the time of visiting.

There are other ideas in my mind. I'm talking to other people who seem to mostly have new or unformed ecovillages. I'm open to hearing what you have considered too.

P.S. I also know of places where there is free land and government-owned land where we could do some bushcraft.
