Hello everyone!

I recently got a nice book entirely devoted to gladiolus cultivation edited in the 1950s, by David Laidlaw.
The fact that strikes my imagination is that inside it I found a handwritten list of varieties, selected by the previous owner of the book.

So I immediately got the idea of recreating a garden plot with these specific varieties, in tribute to this unknown person that shared the same love for gardening.

The problem is that I relized, after a quick search on the net, that basically no one of these old varieties is still available.

So I was wandering if someone has any advice about where to find old gladiolus varieties (if there is any chance), and any idea about why they have disappeared and we do not have heirloom gladiolus as for many other plant species.

Thank you in advance, have a nice rest of the day!

Alessandro

You might want to try this website but if you figure out how to get around thrips, please let me know I love the "sword lilies"
