I’m a 37-year-old male living on a couple acres in a small Washington town just north of Portland – it’s a beautiful, tight-knit place that feels a bit like a real-life Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls.
By trade, I’m an engineer, and while I appreciate the remote work that pays the bills, I’m at my best when I’m offline and working with my hands. My weekends are usually spent as a dahlia farmer, beekeeper, and builder (or fixing whatever tractor or house project that's broken!). My property is a mix of the wild Pacific Northwest (lots of Oregon White Oaks give shade to the house!) and several hundred dahlias, daffodils, and sunflowers, along with a small greenhouse and a hobby garden that keeps me busy.
I’ve put a lot of intention into building a community here rather than just a solitary homestead – we're an eclectic, positive group of artists, builders, engineers, teachers, and farmers. My neighbors and I share everything from tractors and tools to our time and skills. We’re often found hosting apple cider pressings (using our neighborhood apples), bonfires, art events, and holiday parties. Food is a huge part of my life; after a six-month cooking residency with the Rome Sustainable Food Project in Italy, I’ve turned my home into a bit of a supperclub and often cook for our large parties. Slow meals and good wine over good conversation and acts of [food] service are my favorite love language.
I’m looking for a partner (25-35F) who is accomplished and grounded in her own life and has her own successful career, but is ready to build a shared future on a homestead. I really value high EQ, a secure attachment style, and a "team" mentality. I’m looking for an equal partner – someone who is well-rounded and successful in her career and hobbies, but who also wants to settle down and start a family.
My dream is to start a family and raise kids who are well-read but "semi-wild" – the kind of children who max out their library card, but also spend their days barefoot, riding bikes, exploring the thousands of acres of conservation land that surround me, and building lemonade stands for the neighbors. I value deep communication, vulnerability, and a life that balances local adventures here in the PNW with occasional international travel (I'm a big fan of Rick Steves' outlook of "travel as a political act" – exploring new cultures and returning home as more open-minded, globally connected citizens). I've spent extensive time in Italy, Portugal, and much of Western Europe, and would love to share those experiences again with a partner.
