Anybody have experience raising up yellow birch in their area?
I snagged some seed hanging over the road last Autumn, I think it was a mast year. Broke up the seed from the catkin and stuck them in the fridge for 40 days in late March, then cast them in a bit of soil from under the alders. 9 pots or so are growing now loads germinated and starting their long journey toward the sky! I try to make sure they don't dry out...
They are a climax hardwood species in this neck of the woods.
