thermal mass and rocket application to cross draft kiln

I can try to post steps of stones and sizes (down to screenings) with clays, Inside more for radiance and outer with more straws for insulation and even with oils for proofing. Luckily I had clay pit with multiple layers and screening abilities for trying to decide with microscope the more refractory and so on. Cross draft design but rise like dragon in way inspiration. Not completed here, but good showing. Many more kiln designs with different techniques for different purposes hopefully to get shown soon. Charcoal making (60ft apple tree was near), Brick firing (too narrow a design) and burst blast for drying bricks (pottery) or wood.

So my drive was not so much to making pottery. I would show kiln to potters and they would ask "What kind of pottery I had done" and I would try to explain. I was more interested in the making of the kilns for different uses, especially for making fire brick and refractory brick for making more better kilns and hopefully forges. Refractory brick is not cheap. Since I had so many clays near and Basalt rock dusts and so many other blessings such as sands in clays to screen out. . I set off to playing with stuff from wheat flour cooked to calcining egg shells, to fly ash from certain barks, even shredding acrylic yarns (carding is newer and dog brush seems too slow). Studied journals on clays from different countries and took on serious studies of concrete to be more interdisciplinary.
Yes, if not guessed. . I was in central NC. The wonderful red clay region for bricks in the range where all the volcanic islands got shoved up against the Appalachian run off of semi precious stones, leaving Nello Teer the exposed basalts. My plans are -now that living arrangements drastically altering to get more into the mountains. There to build in a hobbit type home and Dragon style kilns. Big rocks. Maybe fund with some semi-precious rockhounding near Franklin, as granite quarries also near. Probably will have to make some trips for my more kaolin clays from Piedmont, but hopes that can all pan out with terrace farming and all the permaculture stuff I been doing since -well long time ago.
