We're excited to be teaching our Permaculture Design Certificate course at the Greening The Desert Project in Jordan, 8 to 19 November 2026.
The project sits in the Dead Sea Valley, close to the lowest point on Earth, with intense heat, arid soils and very little rainfall. It's one of the most challenging places to practise permaculture, which is exactly what makes it such a powerful place to learn it.
Over 10 days, Geoff Lawton will take you through the full 72 hour PDC, with a strong focus on dry climate design: harvesting and holding water in the landscape, building soil where there's very little to start with, creating shade and shelter, and establishing productive food systems in drylands.
You'll see these strategies working all around you on site, from rainwater harvesting earthworks and an arid climate plant nursery to wastewater recycling. Each morning there's also the chance to join hands-on sessions on the farm.
The course is co-hosted by Zaytuna Farm, and certificates are issued in association with The Permaculture Research Institute Australia.
