A veteran's family on a small homestead in rural northeast Missouri is working to finish their home before winter. They live there with their four children, plus goats, sheep, guineas and chickens. With help from loved ones, they got the outer post-frame shell built, and it already has its own solar power system. The inside still has to be finished, and until then they are living in a travel trailer on the property.

They are raising $31,100: about $18,000 for interior materials (insulation, drywall, plumbing and basic flooring) and about $12,000 for food and household basics for the next six months while they keep building step by step. The next jobs are mounting solar panels on the veranda, a front porch overhang, setting and insulating the doors, outlets, and plumbing for the water heater and radiant floor heat.

Five or ten dollars truly adds up, and sharing the link helps just as much. If anyone here is nearby with carpentry or construction experience, hands-on help would be welcome too. I'll post progress updates in this thread.
