My wife and I are closing on a property soon that we intend to turn into a long-term homestead for ourselves and our kids! We are very excited and also overwhelmed with the possibilities and what to do next. I have just finished using the web soil survey and have no idea how to read the legend. It states:

BkB	Berks channery silt loam, 3 to 8 percent slopes	8.2	22.1%
BrA	Brinkerton silt loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes	10.4	28.0%
CtB	Clearbrook channery silt loam, 0 to 8 percent slopes	11.3	30.4%
Ma	Markes channery silt loam, 0 to 8 percent slopes	0.2	0.5%
WeB	Weikert channery silt loam, 3 to 8 percent slopes	7.0	18.9%

Could someone please help me decipher this. We are trying to plan what trees we will plant and where on the site. It is 13 acres that we presume was being used mostly for hay (this we are unsure of and are trying to figure out some more history).

Any other things I should be checking on before closing to best prepare for our first few months on the property? We close in August, so we can hopefully get some trees planted this fall.

 Thanks!
