Experienced organic grower family seeking intentional community

Hello! My husband of 11 years and our boys are looking for the right community to settle down with. We have been living in tiny house IC's for the last year participating in work shares having over 5 years experience in biodynamic/organic/permaculture food production. We previously came from upstate NY where we owned/operated a live power (animal powered) heirloom produce CSA which fed 25 families. I have a degree in Equine Science and Management and over 20 years experience in animal care/husbandry and I'm familiar with raising and processing all kinds livestock aside from dairy/cattle as well as care of domestic animals. My husband is skilled in trailering and many common farm machines (tractors, hay elevators, skid steer, forklift operation, etc). We have 4 boys ages 9,8 and a pair of 7yo's. We can be mobile at any time, and would really love to find a family/community to coordinate with to produce healthy foods in a sustainable way and become more profitable via marketing goods and farm products. Having lived in tiny homes we have our lives pretty well pared down and don't require a lot of standard amenities or room. We are used to heating with wood, I am an avid canner/food preserver, and we have strong work ethic and skills to contribute. Currently located in N. Texas, but have lived and farmed in numerous climates (Maine, New york, Texas) and at various stages of land development. Looking forward to connecting with some of you!

Have you found a new community/situation?

If not, maybe we should talk. I'm in North Alabama on 19 hilly, wooded acres. Been here a year, so have yet to do any planting. Small wood frame house in clearing near road.

To me the growing zone 7b is near ideal. Enough chill hours for many of those plants requiring them. Perfect for heat loving plants. And, with some manipulation of micro-climates, it's possible to grow delicate plants that normally require zones 8–10. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Expect to incorporate smaller livestock as well.

I am a young 51, a full-time homesteader, preparing to become an adoptive mother of a sibling group. Not only would I welcome company now, but also in the foreseeable future.

Lis, have you found a place yet? I have 200 acres in southern Virginia, and a 2-bedroom house is vacant for now. (I have my own home.) Each room is 13 x 13. Back porch could be a small 3rd br. This is a wide-open opportunity rather than plugging into a system. There is much opportunity, and your job to take the initiative. I just need some help with chores so I can visit my nearby parents sometimes. I could use help with a large garden as well, to feed all. Let me know if it interests you. There is a lot of opportunity for marketing here. We are horse people as well--have 7 equines. cattle (kinda big pets.) BUT: I won't deal with children who are cruel to animals or who are destructive.
