25 years ago I had small (2"-3" thick) chinaberry trees growing in my goat pen. The goats soon turned to eating the bark off the little trees & I wrapped chicken wire around a clump of those I wanted to save. It did not make the goats sick & they flourished.
Over the years these trees melded together into an eight trunked base of a beautiful tree that provided wonderful shade to a 40 x 40' area.
I was very disappointed to find out that the tree had been struck by lightening & needed to be removed.  I have since learned that woodworkers delight in chinaberry wood as very beautiful for turning bowls & that they enjoy working with it.
Just adding my 2 cents on watching the chinaberry grow.

That is interesting! I've always been fond of multi-trunk, fused trees. Did the Chinaberry seeds harm the goats, or did they produce any seeds at that point? I've read they are poisonous.

And Welcome to permies!
